Clare Wentworth, 64, Thor Industries Inc.’s senior vice president of purchasing, recently went into semi-retirement, the Jackson Center, Ohio-based company announced.
Wentworth, Thor’s head of purchasing the last 12 years, will continue to work part-time for Thor as a consultant, according to Wade F.B. Thompson, Thor’s chairman.
Wentworth has been replaced by Ted Bartus, 36, who served as Wentworth’s “lieutenant” during the last four years, Thompson added.
Prior to his promotion, Bartus’ official title was senior vice president of purchasing.
“Claire (Wentworth) is highly respected in our industry for his fairness, integrity and knowledge,” Thompson said. “He has been a major contributor to Thor’s success from the day he started.”
Thor is the leading RV producer in terms of unit volume because it is the retail market share leader in towable RVs by a wide margin. The New York Stock Exchange-listed firm also is a significant producer of mid-size transit buses.
