Thousand Trails Inc., the largest operator of membership-based campgrounds in the United States, announced today (Sept. 15) the launch of its new Getaway Club membership.
According to a press release, a Getaway Club membership includes access to over 50 camping preserves within the nationwide Thousand Trails, NACO and Leisure Time campground systems and priority use of the exclusive Getaway Units at select preserves – including 10 in California.
“The Getaway Club provides members with a variety of rental accommodations located near exciting vacation destinations such as Hershey Park, Pa. and Walt Disney World Resort, Fla.,” said Jerry Gelinas, vice president of sales and marketing for Frisco, Texas-based Thousand Trails.
Each of the preserves offers quality amenities featuring resort-style camping along with outdoor recreation options such as swimming pools, member lodges, nature trails and separate children’s recreation areas.
The new Getaway units sleep six and feature luxury conveniences, including linen packages, a flat-screen TV, satellite TV, fireplace and surround-sound stereo. Getaway Club members may select alternative accommodations, including cabins and cottages.
Thousand Trails, which has 108,000 members, sold its real estate interests in August to Chicago-based Manufactured Home Communities Inc., but continues to operate its 57 campgrounds through a 15-year leaseback arrangement.
