Membership-based campground owner/operator Thousand Trails Inc. reported higher sales and earnings for the first quarter of its fiscal year 2003, which ended Sept. 30.
The Frisco, Tex. firm earned $2.31 million during the July-through-September period, a 7% improvement over the $2.15 million it earned a year earlier.
The company’s first fiscal quarter sales revenue climbed 5% higher to $27.3 million.
“We had a good quarter,” said Bill Shaw, president and CEO. “Dues cash collections were good and our member count rose during the quarter.”
Thousand Trails has 112,000 members at 59 membership camping preserves located in 17 states and British Columbia, Canada. It also provides a reciprocal use program for members of about 280 recreational facilities and manages 240 public campgrounds for the U.S. Forest Service and other entities.
