Boys & Girls Club members enjoy camp program last summer

Michilah Miller, director of development and special events for the Boys & Girls Club of Goshen, Ind., reported that the RV industry-supported 14th Annual “Bids for Kids” Dinner & Auction fundraiser on May 3 at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum in Elkhart is “nearly sold out.”

“We are close to capacity with around 650 people, so if anyone wants to sign up, they need to do it by next week at the latest,” she said. “I could have never imagined it would grow so much again this year.

The club has over 1,000 members with an average of 400 kids coming in every day, many of them from families employed at RV firms. Miller said the event has enjoyed a surge in attendance and donations in recent years since the area’s RV-related companies began to support it in force. “As a result, last year the club was able to provide new fitness and art programs and an average of two full letter grades’ improvement in both math and reading through expanded tutoring,” Miller noted

Approximately 55 live-auction and 100 silent-auction items up for bid this year include Notre Dame football season tickets, a trip to the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale with tickets to the Phoenix Open, a seven-day stay at the Westin Ka’anapali Ocean Resort Villas in Hawaii and front-row tickets to a Katy Perry concert.

Tickets cost $100 per individual and are available by contacting Miller at (574) 533-4793 or [email protected] Attendees are invited to wear jerseys for their favorite sports teams in line with the tailgate theme of the event, which includes a cash bar and dinner provided by Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

Presenting sponsors include Lippert Components Inc., Consolidated Metals Inc., Hickory Springs Mfg., Genesis Products Inc., Lakota, Augusta RV, Wildman Business Group and Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
