Timberland RV Co., dba Adventure Manufacturing, Peru, Ind., marked the manufacture of its 10,000th towable RV in mid-January with a cookout for its 190 employees. The unit – an entry-level travel trailer with a base retail price of $15,000 – was delivered to Fun Time RV, Cleburne, Texas. “It really has VIN 10,000,” said Timberland President Mark Gerber. “We started out with VIN 1.” Timberland, founded in October 1999, manufacturers Riverside and Timberlodge travel trailers and fifth-wheels, RPM sport utility travel trailers (SURVs) and Cody fifth-wheels. The company’s hallmark is that it typically offers few options on its units. “We are pretty happy that we got to No. 10,000,” Gerber said. “A lot of companies don’t make it that far.” Gerber said Adventure expects to manufacturer 2,000 units in 2006. “We are building at a rate higher than ever before because Hurricane Katrina ate up a lot of the towable inventory on our dealers’ lots,” Gerber said.
