Tom Raper RVs, the world’s largest RV dealership in terms of the number of units retailed, was sold last Wednesday (June 19) to Dave Bane, the dealership’s general manager.
Tom Raper, whose Richmond, Ind.-based company bears his name, also sold his manufactured home dealership to Bane.
Terms of the transaction, which had been in the works since last winter, were not revealed.
Bane said he will continue to use the Tom Raper name on the 38-year-old dealership and opening Tom Raper dealership locations in other communities is a possibility.
Although Lazydays RV SuperCenter, Seffner, Fla., is the largest RV dealership in terms of annual sales revenue, Tom Raper RVs sells more RV units on an annual basis, because of its high volume of towable RV sales, according to Tom Walworth, president of Statistical Surveys Inc., an independent market research firm.
Lazydays, with more than $600 million in annual revenue, sells a larger number of motorhomes, Walworth said.
