Tom Raper RV will open its first satellite location north of Cincinnati, Ohio, in late December or January, according to company owner Dave Bane.
The new location will be in a 55,000-square-foot former home-improvement store building along Ohio 4 in Fairfield, Ohio.
The original location for Tom Raper RV, a 39-year-old company, is in Richmond, Ind., which is about 30 miles west of Dayton, Ohio. Dayton is about 55 miles north of Cincinnati.
Bane, a former Fairfield resident, said the dealership’s Fairfield location will be about 75 miles from the dealership’s Richmond location, but because of highway patterns, Bane said. “It’s very hard to get to us (in Richmond) from Cincinnati.”
The Tom Raper RV facility in Fairfield will inventory 300 to 500 units and employ about 40 people, Bane said. In comparison, the Richmond location stocks more than 1,000 RV units and employs 250 people.
The dealership’s site in Fairfield is located on six acres is owned by Jim Bonaminio, who also owns the nearby Jungle Jim’s International Market.
Cross-promotions for Tom Raper RV and Jungle Jim’s are planned and Bane said his dealership will provide golf cart shuttles to Jungle Jim’s for use by RV owners who are waiting to have their rigs serviced.
Bonaminio even plans to build a monorail and might extend it to the Tom Raper RV location.
The RV dealership joins several auto and boat dealerships along Ohio 4 north of Cincinnati.
