Screen Shot 2015-01-27 at 9.20.02 AMWhen it comes to RVing, it’s all about the floorplan — and like most people associated with the RV industry, we’re amazed at times with the level of innovation and imagination some manufacturers are investing in their products. Keystone RV Co. had already upgraded its Montana lineup for the 2014 model year — then the Goshen, Ind.-based builder turned it up a notch with its rear den design 3790/91RD (a choice of 18-cubic-foot refrigerators — either Samsung residential or Dometic RV unit — differentiates the two models). The room, like the forward bedroom is elevated, thereby creating three distinct living areas. The model offers a wealth of plush seating including theatre-style seating along the rear bulkhead and sofa-beds in opposing slideouts, along with upscale touches like backlit crown molding that highlights the vaulted ceiling. The centerpiece of the den is the faux stone rear wall, home to an electric fireplace, 40-inch flatscreen TV and storage cabinets. Storage plays a key role in the $78,656 MSRP Montana 3791.“Because the living room is raised and the front bedroom also is raised, what you end up with is a phenomenal amount of exterior storage — this unit has more than 250 cubic feet of passthrough storage,” explained Jim Mac, Keystone’s communications director. And, by virtue of both the forward bedroom and bath and the rear den being elevated, it creates a “sunken” galley “with none of the normal kitchen incursion into the main cabin.”
