The city of Cape Coral, Fla., is developing an 188-acre upscale RV resort — “Resort at Tranquility Lake — on the corner of Burnt Store Road and Durden Parkway.

“This is a far cry from a campground per se,” said City Planner Wyatt Daltry, television station WZVN reported. “You’re looking at cabin structures on the property, you’re looking at the types of RVs that would being using this site are fairly expensive RVs.”

Plans have been in works since 2012, but a number of housekeeping tasks needed to get done before the ball got rolling; for example, being allowed to use the land for development.

“The city didn’t even have an ordinance to do this when we first thought of it,” said Cliff Repperger of Avalon Engineering, the company designing the resort for the city.

“I expect this to be probably one of the top resorts in the country,” said Repperger.

Officials behind the project say they expect the plans to go to public hearing in next few months.
