Torklift International was named Manufacturer of the Year last week during an award banquet hosted by Seattle Business Magazine at the Museum of Flight in Seattle.
According to a statement, Torklift International was recognized for the award for upholding various lean manufacturing practices and dedication to producing lifetime warranty products to niche markets.
“[They produce] things like towing hitches, turnbuckles, tie downs, locking devices, steps and handrails,” said Seattle Business Magazine Managing Editor John Levesque. “The company also invests in new products such as camper bumpers that provide extra storage and seating.”
Torklift International General Manager Jay Taylor accepted the award on behalf of the company.
“I am so fortunate to represent a company that started in 1976 by an individual who just had a dream,” Taylor told a room of several hundred guests. “All (our founder Jon Kay) wanted to do was make folks happy so that when they were spending time with their families, they didn’t have to worry about getting out into the deserts and mountains across this country. Torklift International is a company that builds products sold all around the world for the recreational vehicle, off road and accessory truck markets. We build products that are designed with safety in mind, quality in mind and reliability.”
Taylor explained the company builds individual employees into leaders so they are accountable for their own future and the type of products produced.
“It’s our future, it’s our dreams, it’s our tomorrow and our customers depend on us to put the very best products forward that we possibly can. Through this recognition tonight, I would say it’s safe to say we are accomplishing that task. On behalf of everyone in the Torklift family, I thank you all.”
