A motorhome donated by Coachmen Industries Inc. will be used for a cross country tour that will mark the beginning of National Tourism Week on May 4, according to RVIA Today, the newsletter for the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.
The tour, which will promote the importance of travel and tourism, also involves the Travel Industry Association (TIA) and the authors of the popular book “Chicken Soup for the Traveler’s Soul.”
The first event will be National Traveler’s Appreciation Day activities in New York City on May 4, and the tour will continue until its last stop on Aug. 12 at the Pier in Santa Monica, Calif.
The authors of “Chicken Soup for the Traveler’s Soul” — Jack Canfield, Mark Hansen and Steve Zikman — will travel in a specially painted 2002 Coachmen Cross Country Class A as part of their See America Book Tour.
They intend to get media coverage from local convention and visitors bureaus along the way.
