Retail sales of travel trailers, fifth-wheels, folding campers and park models fell 13.3% in March, according to Statistical Surveys Inc., an independent market research firm.

Dealers sold a total of 18,330 travel trailers, fifth-wheels, folding campers and park models during March of this year, compared with 21,139 units retailed during March 2000, Statistical Surveys reported.

During the first quarter of this year, combined retail sales of the four product categories declined 10.9% to 36,312 units, compared with 40,769 units sold by dealers during the first three months of 2000.

The March and first quarter sales totals did not include the units retailed by South Carolina dealers, because that state did not report its data on time, according to Statistical Surveys.
