Officials in Sandwich, Maine have selected an operator to manage a town-owned RV park, according to the Upper Cape Codder.
The town purchased Peters Pond RV Park, located in Oakcrest Cove, in November 2002 for $3.6 million and began searching for a firm to assume management responsibilities last October.
Sandwich officials selected Trupin Camp Resort Services – which submitted the only proposal – to take over management of the facilities.
Trupin’s plans include developing year-round use for the lodge while expanding services for town residents using the public beach. The proposal also calls for expanding the rental capacity of the property by creating 10 new “park model” RV units.
Trupin also will be upgrading the facilities, including: renovating particular sites in the seasonal section of the park to increase revenues, installation of new water services, modification of existing services, and the installation of new electrical services.
“Everyone feels optimistic that this will be a good fit,” said Assistant Town Administrator Doug Lapp.
