Four buildings are under construction in the Syracuse, Ind., 6 & 13 Technology & Industrial Park, the town’s first such development endeavor.
As reported by the Goshen News, Travel Lite RV purchased seven lots in the town’s only industrial park last May and is having the buildings constructed to move its current manufacturing operation. The park is north of town at the intersection of U.S. 6 and Ind. 13.
Going up are an RV repair shop and dealership, a fiberglass shop where countertops and table tops will be made, a company headquarters and a factory that will have two production lines.
Last May owners Dustin and Lindsey Johns told the Syracuse Town Council they were investing around $5 million in the project because of high demand for their RVs and also because the lease on their current location on C.R. 23, south of New Paris, was expiring. The Johns could not be reached for comment on the ongoing project.
Since the Travel Lite investment in half the park’s 14 lots, Town Manager Henry DeJulia said other companies have shown interest in locating there.
“There is interest at times for property,” DeJulia wrote in response to emailed questions. “We highly value small, locally-owned high-quality businesses. Within the context of an overall development strategy by the town of Syracuse, we were able to concentrate dedicated infrastructure in a limited area. This allows us to reduce the per-business expense of that infrastructure.”
