travel-lite logoNew Paris, Ind.-based Travel-Lite Inc. reported 184% growth with year-over-year truck camper sales nearly tripling, according to President Dustin Johns.

“It’s pretty astonishing, especially considering that the Canadian economy is pretty slow right now. We have some Canadian dealers doing okay, but it’s a lot tougher for them than normal,” Johns told RVBUSINESS.com. “But America has come on strong. We have increased our dealer network by a large margin.”

Johns, who said the company is enjoying a record year overall, said the increase is due to a continued focus on “making our products lighter and more flexible for the half-ton market in particular.”

“Most of are units will go in long- and short-bed trucks without having to make any modifications to the vehicle or the camper,” he said. “Basically, what this just tells me is our stuff sells at retail. Our truck campers are selling on the retail end and, consequently, the orders just keep coming in. It’s just all working. So we’re very excited and hopefully we’ll keep building on those numbers throughout the rest of the year.”
