Factory-to-dealer shipments of all types of RVs were up 4.9% in June, but that was exclusively because of sharp increases in deliveries of travel trailers and fifth-wheels, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
Meanwhile, Class A motorhome shipments were flat while Class C motorhome and folding-camper deliveries were down in June.
Here are the details of the RVIA report by product category:
Travel-trailer shipments increased 15.6% in June to 14,100 units, compared with 12,200 units delivered in June 2002. In the first half of this year, travel-trailer shipments increased 17.7% to 77,000 units, versus 65,400 units delivered in the first half of 2002.
Fifth-wheel deliveries increased 9.1% in June to 6,000 units, compared with 5,500 units shipped a year earlier. After the first half of this year, fifth-wheel shipments were up 0.6% to 32,600 units, compared with 32,400 units delivered a year earlier.
Folding-camper shipments were down 17.5% during June to 3,300 units, compared with 4,000 units shipped a year earlier. In the first half of the year, folding-camper deliveries were down 23% to 19,100 units, versus 24,800 units shipped a year earlier.
Class A motorhome deliveries totaled 3,700 units in June, the same number shipped in June 2002. In the first half of this year, Class A shipments were up 0.5% to 19,800 units, compared with 19,700 units shipped a year earlier.
Class C motorhome shipments declined 10.5% in June to 1,700 units, versus 1,900 units delivered a year earlier. After the first half of this year, Class C deliveries were down 3.1% to 9,300 units, compared with 9,600 units shipped a year earlier.
Truck-camper deliveries declined 11.% in June to 800 units, versus 900 units shipped a year earlier. Truck camper shipments were down 14.8% to 4,600 units for the first six months, versus 5,400 units delivered a year earlier.
Class B motorhome shipments totaled 200 units in June, the same number delivered in June 2002. After the first half of the year, Class B shipments were down 26.7% to 1,100 units, compared with 1,500 units shipped a year earlier.
