Irvine, Calif.-based Traveland USA, a multidealership facility celebrating its 30th anniversary in October, plans to relocate its retail operations to a new location that will be combined with an upscale, 224-site RV resort somewhere in Orange County, Calif.
“We’re still negotiating the location,” Dave Farwell, Traveland USA’s COO, told RV Business, adding that more details about the project would be released later this year.
Current plans call for Traveland USA to open its new RV resort in late 2005 or early 2006. Shortly after that, the participating RV retailers would be relocated to the new site from the existing location at 6441 Burt Road in Irvine, where this unique store has been for all of its nearly three decades.
Currently located about 15 miles from Disneyland, Traveland USA bills itself as the world’s largest RV shopping center, with 38 acres encompassing 14 dealerships that represent most major RV brands.
The new resort is to be built on a site that will include full amenities, including full concierge, maid and laundry service in addition to massage therapy. Extreme bike trails, as well as swimming pools, spas, a man-made lake and opportunities for canoeing and kayaking will also be provided along with two restaurants and retail RV shopping opportunities. The new resort, by design, will accommodate RV rallies.
Farwell said Traveland USA is building the resort because of a need for additional upscale facilities in Orange County to accommodate today’s larger RVs. “I think most of the campgrounds here are outdated,” he said, adding that Traveland USA plans to build additional resorts in the future. “We’d like to roll out four or five additional campgrounds down the road,” he said.
