Francis G. Kosowicz Sr., 86, founder, president and CEO of campground sector supplier Trumbull Recreation Supply Co., died Nov. 1.
Mr. Kosowicz’ dedication to protecting the natural environment was reflected in his development of Shower-Trol, the original coin-meter control for public showers. He began marketing the Shower-Trol in 1971 when the campground industry was in its infancy and RV park operators were plagued by sharply rising energy costs and severe drought conditions in many parts of the U.S.
Now, Trumbull, based in Willington, Conn., offers more than 500 products with an emphasis on conservation.
Known by many park operators for his attendance at trade shows and his attentive nature over the telephone, Mr. Kosowicz remained active in the company, working closely on the development of new products. He was the principal designer of Trumbull’s dump-station equipment and most recently the Euro-Shower outdoor footwash/shower combination.
Trumbull will continue to develop and deliver products to the recreation industry under the direction of Mr. Kosowicz’ daughter, Susan K. Dinallo, and son, Frank Kosowicz.
