There were two RV rallies near Dayton, Ohio, this past weekend (Sept. 13-14), one hosted by the Tom Raper RV dealership in Richmond, Ind., and the other by consumer electronics chain Best Buy – Best Buy RV Rally at the Natural Springs Resort in New Paris, Ohio, according to the Richmond Palladium-Item newspaper in Indiana.
Monique Lane, a rally coordinator with Best Buy, said she was pleased with the 110 registered vehicles at the event. She said people came from as far away as Florida, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
“Most of the people here are customers of Best Buy,” she said, adding that a 1950s sock hop, an Elvis impersonation, group dinner and bonfire featuring banjo player Evan Ward rounded out the evening. “This is about customer appreciation, and we consider this a celebration.”
At the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Richmond, Tom Raper RV’s event drew 300 vehicles – three-fourths of which are registered to return next year, said John Wissler, director of promotions for the dealership.
Activities included a horseshoe pitching contest, Wild West stage show by the McKnight Rangers of Orange County, Ind., a corn-hole tournament and country music and classic rock performance.
Both rallies concluded Sunday (Sept. 14).
