According to figures just released by the NCC (National Caravan Council), 12,332 motorhomes and campervans were registered in the U.K. last year, compared to 10,572 in 2015 – a 16.6% year-on-year increase.

As reported by Out and About Live, sales of new motorhomes and campervans have never been so high. The previous record was 10 years ago in 2007 when registrations peaked at 11,646. They then dropped significantly over the following years, bottoming out in 2012 when less than 7,000 new motorhomes and campervans were registered.

The early signals are 2017 will be equally strong, with some motorhome manufacturers reporting that their factories are at full capacity and not taking any further orders from dealers until they launch their 2018 models in the summer. However, franchise dealers still have many 2017 models for sale.

The NCC attributes the record sales to the extensive choice and variety of motorhome and campervan models now available.

“This high number of registrations clearly demonstrates the continuing strong demand for motorhome products,” said John Lally, NCC Director General.
