The van conversion market continued shrinking in April, although pickup truck conversion deliveries were sharply higher during the month, according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
Van conversion shipments from manufacturers to auto dealers were down 25% in April to 7,800 units. During the first four months of this year, van conversion shipments were down 20%, to 28,700 units, when compared with the same portion of 1999.
SUV conversion shipments also declined 25% in April to 900 units and SUV conversion deliveries were down 40% during the first four months of this year to 2,800 units.
Meanwhile, shipments of converted pickups increased 47% in April to 4,400 units and pickup conversion deliveries were up 10% during the first four months of this year to 13,300 units.
