For the first time in many months, van conversion shipments showed improvement in February, according to data gathered by the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA).
The number of van conversions shipped from manufacturers to auto dealers climbed 28.6% in February to 3,600 units, the RVIA reported.
After the first two months of this year, van conversion shipments were up 9.8% to 6,700 units.
Meanwhile, there were 900 converted pickups shipped during February, the same number that was shipped during February 2001.
However, after the first two months of this year, shipments of converted pickups were down 26.1% to 1,700 units.
The wholesale market for converted sport utility vehicles (SUVs) also continued to dwindle in February. There were 400 converted SUVs shipped during February, a 20% decline from a year earlier.
After the first two months of this year, shipments of converted SUVs were down 50% to 500 units.
