Van-conversion shipments declined 38% in September and are down nearly 31% year to date, according to the latest report from the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association.
Van-conversion manufacturers delivered 2,100 units in September, compared with 3,400 in September 2003. For the first nine months, 21,600 units were shipped vs. 31,200 last year.
Pickup conversion decreased almost 36% for the month with 900 units shipped, compared with 1,400 in 2003. Year to date, 9,000 units have been delivered representing a 20% drop compared with the first nine months last year.
Sport Utility Vehicle conversion shipments equaled last September’s totals with 200 units shipped, but were down 32% for the first nine months at 2,100 units.
