The concept for the Green RV Project was to demonstrate how any RV can be made to be energy independent, reducing its carbon footprint while still providing the energy necessary for modern living.

Each of the seven episodes detailed a different facet of the green energy system. Throughout the series, host Chris Dougherty explained some of the steps required for installation of the components, all while reminding viewers that the system is completely flexible and expandable, and that there are still more technologies and choices available for RVers who are planning a similar system.

The Green RV Project was completed with the assistance of several vendor partners, including Grape Solar, Star Lights Inc., Torklift International, Trojan Battery Co., and Xantrex. The project was completed on a 2013 Coleman CTS330RL travel trailer built by the Dutchmen division of Keystone RV Co.
