Highland Ridge RV officially opened a new 92,000-square-foot plant on its campus in Shipshewana, Ind., on Monday (Sept. 19), according to a report by WNDU TV.
“We can double production going from the plant we’re currently in to the new plant. We have the capacity now,” said Highland Ridge President Randy Graber.
The bold project even survived a midstream change in ownership. As a subsidiary of Jayco Inc., both Highland Ridge and Jayco were acquired by Thor Industries Inc. in July.
“Thor is not that type of a company, they they’re only buying companies that are successful. They, they want them to continue to operate on their own and continue to manage on their own,” Graber said.
With the RV industry on track to ship more than 400,000 units for the first time ever, some insist there are still shows no signs of coming back down.
“We’ll finish the year as an industry with 405,000 units,” said Derald Bontrager, CEO of Jayco. “That’s the brass ring; I think the gold ring is going to be 500,000 units.”
