The Journeylink.com Internet portal for RV enthusiasts shut down earlier this month.
The web site was founded by former Camper Clubs of America CEO and founder Brad Edson and it went operational last May 1. Access to Journeylink.com was free and Edson hoped it would make money from the sale of advertising and fees generated from serving as an e-commerce marketplace.
However, a statement now visible on the Journeylink.com Web site reads, “As a result of circumstances beyond our control, we’ve folded up the tent, packed the motorhome, hitched the fifth-wheel and have pushed onward to our next stop … wherever that may be.”
Journeylink.com officials were not available for comment about why the operation closed. However, in recent months, venture capital firms have stopped funding many e-commerce start-ups because they questioned whether they would ever become profitable.
