One month does not make a trend, but Winnebago Industries Inc. basically dominated the Class C motorhome market during January, according to retail sales data gathered by Statistical Surveys Inc., an independent market research firm.

However, Winnebago also fell from second to third during January in the larger Class A motorhome market, according to Statistical Surveys data.

Last month, Winnebago revealed it grabbed the combined Class A and Class C motorhome retail marketshare leadership position, but that was due to its strong showing in the Class C segment in January.

There were 175 Class C’s built by Winnebago that were retailed during January, giving the Forest City, Iowa-based company a 27.4% market share, according to Statistical Surveys.

Coachmen Industries Inc. was No. 2 in Class C’s with 123 units retailed and a 19.3% market share in January.

Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. was No. 3 in Class C’s with 99 units retailed and a 15.5% market share in January.

Meanwhile, in Class A’s, Fleetwood remained the retail market share leader. Fleetwood, builder of the Bounder, Pace Arrow, Southwind and several other Class A brands, retailed 392 units for a 19.4% market share in January, according to Statistical Surveys.

Monaco Coach Corp. was No. 2 in Class A’s with 356 units retailed and a 17.6% market share in January.

Winnabago, builder of the Winnebago and Itasca brands, was No. 3 in Class A’s in January, retailing 326 units for a 16.1% market share.
