Winnebago Industries was the market share leader for the third consecutive year in 2003, when the Class A and Class C motorhome categories are combined.
Winnebago achieved the distinction because of the robust sales of its gas-engine models, the company reported.
Citing Statistical Surveys Inc. data, Winnebago had a leading 19% share of the combined Class A and Class C market. Its dealers sold a total of 10,669 units last year.
In Class C’s, Winnebago has been the retail market share leader the past six years. The company had a 23.4% share, with dealers selling 3,962 units.
In the Class A market, when gas and diesel engine models are combined, Winnebago ranked No. 3 last year with a 17.1% retail market share. Its dealers retailed 6,707 gas and diesel Class A’s last year.
Winnebago trailed Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. which had a 21.1% market share and Monaco Coach Corp. with a 17.5% share in gas and diesel Class A’s last year.
In Class C’s, Winnebago was well ahead of No. 2 Thor Industries Inc. for 2003. Thor had a 14.8% share of the Class C market.
