Winnebago, Monaco and Thor recorded significant motorhome retail market share gains during the first nine months of this year while Forest River, Keystone, R-Vision and K-Z posted increases in the towable RV sector, according to Statistical Surveys Inc.
Fleetwood remained the market share leader in motorhomes and towables but its lead eroded in both categories, the independent market research firm reported.
Fleetwood had a 21.7% motorhome market share during the first nine months of 2000, compared with a 25.2% share during the first nine months of 1999.
In towables, Fleetwood’s retail share slipped to 24% during the first three quarters of this year, compared with 24.8% a year earlier.
Meanwhile, Winnebago’s motorhome market share increased to 17.2%, compared with 16.4% a year earlier. Monaco’s increased to 10.1% from 8% and Thor’s to 8.8%, from 8%.
Gulf Stream’s retail market share in motorhomes also increased to 4.3%, from 3.8%, and Tiffin’s grew to 2.7%, from 2.4%.
Forest River’s retail market share in towables increased to 11.4% during the first nine months of this year, from 10.3% during the same portion of 1999. Keystone’s increased to 6.4%, from 5.1%, and R-Vision’s grew to 2.7%, from 2.2%.
K-Z’s retail market share in towables increased to 2.3% during the first nine months of this year, from 2.1% a year-ago.
