A man who ran the now-defunct Janesville RV Center in Wisconsin could face up to 10 years in prison for defrauding recreational vehicle customers.
The GazetteeXtra reported that Troy M. Tofte of Evansville pleaded guilty to 15 counts of a 39-count complaint in Rock County Court on Monday.
All the counts were theft by fraud and theft by bailee, which involves holding money belonging to someone else without consent.
The other 24 counts include fraud against a financial institution, theft by fraud and theft by bailee. As part of a plea agreement, the 24 counts will be read into the record and considered at sentencing, which is set for April 28.
Tofte is accused of selling RVs on consignment and not passing the money to the owners, not paying off loans as part of trade-in agreements and not transferring titles from the old to new owners.
