The 2006 recipients of the Employer of the Year award presented by Workamper News magazine are Wes and Marcia House, owners of the Winding River Resort Campground in Grand Lake, Colo.
The Houses were nominated by one of their employees, D.B. “Bud” Cook.
The couple was c How To Get Over Your Ex hosen out of 17 nominations sent in this year after the contest was announced in the Workamper News July/August issue. The Houses will receive a special mention in the November/December issue.
The Houses are on-site owners/managers who direct the activities of the five to six Workamper couples they employ.
“Many of the Workampers return for several years of summer work and fun,” Cook said. “Wes and Marcia believe that Workampers are an extension of themselves and that the success of the operation is due to a ‘teamwork’ concept. They approach every situation with patience and understanding, and encourage individual input towards making the campground operation easier and more ‘customer friendly.”
The Winding River Resort Campground, which has an equestrian atmosphere, has been in operation for 30-plus years. It has a customer clientele that makes reservations for the next year upon leaving, Cook said.
This is the ninth year for the award, which recognizes employers who provide an exemplary environment for the Workamper experience. Workampers are defined as singles/couples who enjoy a lifestyle that combines a variety of interesting work opportunities with RV living.
