Channahon, Ill.-based Crane Composites, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality fiberglass reinforced panels (FRP), announced it has rebranded as VALTO Engineered Materials to mark the company’s next chapter of growth. For over 70 years, the firm has delivered engineering excellence in composite materials.
Honoring the company’s legacy while embracing the future, VALTO plans to continue to lead the market with innovation and expertise.
“Our new name represents not just a change in identity, but a reflection of our continued evolution and growth,” said John O’Sullivan, president of VALTO. “While our name is new, our commitment remains unchanged, delivering quality, performance, and innovation with industry leading service and support.”
The name VALTO is a combination of the Latin word Valeo, symbolizing strength, power, and protection offered by the company’s product portfolio, and Rialto, representing the company’s founding and original offices in the historic Rialto Square Theatre in Joliet, Ill.

VALTO delivers advanced materials that enhance everyday environments. The company’s culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance is guided by core values of integrity, respect, innovation, teamwork, and excellence.
Vice President of Recreational Vehicles for the firm, Mike Cheney, elaborated that the firm was acquired in Jan. of 2025 by KPS Capital Partners, and wanted to rebrand to reflect its future.
“As part of the transition, as a refection really, we put a lot of thought and rigor into coming up with a new name and the new branding,” he shared. “This new brand reflects the combination of innovative products while maintaining where we came from in the heart of Joliet, Ill. in 1954 when we were founded.”
Cheney stated that the brands of the VALTO product offerings remain the same with the relevant brands for RV being Filon and Noble.
VALTO’s FRP products will continue under its established brand portfolio of ARMORTUF, DESIGNS, FILON, GLASBORD, GLASBOND, KEMLITE, NOBLE, SEQUENTIA, and VARIETEX.
“We’re the largest producer of FRP panels in the U.S.,” concluded Cheney. “Obviously at this point in time we are promoting our Made in America brands. That means a lot to us. I think it means a lot to our customers too, and certainly the end users of RVs are typically very loyal to things that are made in the U.S. It gives us an advantage when it comes to stability of supply and pricing as well.”
