Wave Express Hosts Truck Safety & Compliance Training

GOSHEN, Ind. — Wave Express, an RV transport company, welcomed The Indiana Motor Truck Association to Goshen, Ind., on Oct. 30, along with representatives of the insurance firm of Marvin Johnson and Associates, whose safety and compliance specialists provide training to trucking companies in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio.

Over 30 company representatives gathered from various trucking firms across Northern Indiana, some with material handling and over-the-road freight firms unrelated to RV transport. Wave Express has over 600 drivers, and many of the transport companies in the room were competitors of Wave Express, yet with a common goal of safety in mind.

“We had some of our competitors in the room as well as we consider most to be friendly competition,” Joe Braun president of the Employee-owned Wave Express shared with RVBusiness. “We like rubbing shoulders and comparing notes when it comes to safety. It’s important to have peers to talk to and share with in our industry. We as a community, the  trucking industry, is working very hard to make itself as safe as it can be and this meeting is a tangible example of this happening.”

Braun and Mike Miles, general manager of Wave Express welcomed all participants of the employee presentation with Safety Director for Wave Express, Jennifer Giger providing an overview. Braun sits on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Motor Truck Association that requested the event.

“We are proud to have these members of the Horizon Transport Safety and Compliance team with us as well,” stated Braun introducing members Gabe Gutierez, Natasha Chambers, Natalie Ulanowicz, Kamran Ahmad, Myra Lozano and Jennifer Salaices. Wave Express team members Natalie Hostetler, Lori Gaut, Tonya Griffin and Holly Hamilton attended the meeting.

“We were happy to welcome friends from Mapletree, Start Fleet, Transport U.S., Klink Trucking and several other trucking companies from Northern Indiana,” stated Braun. “Portions of the day specific to truck safety and compliance will be recorded for the benefit of TPTC staff, and attendees will bring back hard copies of all presentations to share with their teams.”

Those interested in hosting or attending Safety and Compliance Training should contact The Indiana Motor Truck Association.
